Berlin — German chancellor Angela Merkel reasserted she firmly opposes jointly issued debt bonds by Eurozone countries.
Ms Merkel said she fears that woo much emphasis will be put on the Eurobond issue at the European Council summit to be held on 28 and 29 June. She defined the Eurobonds a «wrong solution, both in political and economic terms». «As for the summit, I am worried by the fact that many ideas on how to share out the debt will come up, while no proposals will be made to keep it under control. There must be a balance between guarantees and controls». Meanwhile, European stock markets closed bearish owing to the little faith the investors have in the imminent European Council summit. Germany has already pointed out it is not prepared to renegotiate the terms of the Greek bailout.. .
