The American Petroleum Institute late Tuesday reported a 6.9 million-barrel jump in crude supplies for the week ended Nov. 22, according to data from sources. Analysts surveyed by Platts had forecast a decline of 1.5 million barrels. It was a «bearish surprise on oil. That's should shake out some bulls ahead of the holiday,» said Phil Flynn, senior market analyst at Price Futures Group. Sources also said the API reported gasoline stockpiles rose 201,000 barrels, while distillate supplies fell 1.7 million barrels. Analysts expected gasoline supplies to rise by 1 million barrels and distillate inventories to decline by 1.3 million barrels.
